Which machines can this read?

Rotating machines driven by an electric motor, read from their supply. Low and high voltage, fixed speed and behind a variable speed drive, from small belt drives to the largest machines in a plant.

Does anything have to stop?

Accepted Answer

No. Split core transformer around the cable, unit on a rail inside the panel, all the work at the panel rather than at the machine.

What does it need in the panel?

Accepted Answer

Rail space, a short run to the sensor, a network connection, a stable supply. Worth checking before anything is ordered rather than on installation day.

Question 4

Where do the readings go?

Accepted Answer

Out of the panel over an encrypted connection. Devices are managed over a separate channel carrying commands and diagnostics, not data.

Question 5

Our network in that area is poor.

Accepted Answer

Say so early. The device holds readings when the link drops, but the store is limited and a long outage costs readings. Wired beats wireless, and wireless is gated on signal measured at the panel itself.

Question 6

How do we know it is reading the right machine?

Accepted Answer

Somebody at your end confirms the reading before it counts as commissioned. The dangerous failure here is not silence. It is a believable reading about the wrong thing.

What about direct current machines, or more than one sensor per device?

Both are designed. Neither is on the fleet, and we do not describe them as available.
